Exercise 2 Observing shadow using blocks of tone

This exercise is to use of tone to evoke the impression of ‘real’ space.

Both drawings are using charcoal on A2 cartridge paper of two white sauce bowels set on white paper on a small table against a wall with artificial light from top right corner.   l think the more contrast tone of the first one is better but the two objects may be a bit too crowded.  The composition of the second one is better and I also like the reflection of the the right hand bowel on the light hand one.  I think I capture some of the cast shadows.
